EXERCISE FOR BODY AND MIND
Walking your way to a fitter figure
Walking your way to a slimmer figure. Can it really be that easy? In a word, YES.
Losing weight is simple, you need to burn more energy than you consume. All of us
walk a certain amount everyday, but if you can walk just an extra 2 miles a day,
that works out to a massive 60 miles a month -
To lose 1lb a week you should aim to burn between 300 and 500 calories more than you eat. Clearly walking can go a long way towards this. Torquay has plenty of beautiful walking routes to choose from, so there are no excuses.
RUNNING FOR SUCCESS
Clearly, if walking is a successful means of trimming down, surely running is even better right? You can certainly cover more ground in less time and so potentially burn more calories, but you are also likely to speed up your metabolic rate over a period of time, which makes your desire for food greater. Running 3 times per week and 2 miles per session will burn plenty of calories. It will also help develop more lean muscle, reduce your body fat index and enhance wellbeing by reducing stress.
If you’re interested in running regularly and would like to attend training sessions and enter local running events, check out Torbay Athletic Club.
