Gemelli
NEW ITALIAN RESTAURANT AND DELI
New to Torquay in Spring 2009, Gemelli, located on Union Street in Torquay is a great little Italian restaurant and deli. The authentic Italian fayre is produced by chef and owner Lorenzo Giovannini, assisted by Ewa Czarnecka. A truly family affair, the name even has a personal story, being the Italian for twins, in relation to Lorenzo and Ewa’s twin boys, Paolo and Giacomo.
The atmosphere is cosy and authentic, with two walls adourned with local Italian produce, like chocolate, olive oil, biscuits, pasta and much more, all sourced from Italian suppliers. The menu is comprehensive and won’t disappoint and the wine selection is also well stocked for a restaurant of its size.
With Christmas now just around the corner, Lorenzo has designed a very special Christmas menu, so book early to guarantee the best dates and times. They are also offering a superb New Year’s Eve menu. If you haven’t already dropped by, I highly recommend doing so very soon, you won’t be disappointed.
THE CARY ARMS
The Inn on the beach
A countryside Inn restored beyond its former glory, The Cary Arms at Babbacombe is designed to spoil its visitors, whether they are stopping by for a glass of something on the terrace, dining in the restaurant, being pampered in the spa treatment room or spending the night at this luxury boutique Inn.
The menu is traditional and sourced from local produce, like the Brixham fish or the Devon steak and Otter Ale pie. The decor is charming and exudes an informal air and the sea views from the terrace are breathtaking and quite unique within Torquay.
No reservations are needed for lunch, but it is worth doing so for dinner as the word is now out and The Cary is becoming very popular.
There are a number of ways of getting to The Cary Arms. You can arrive by car, walk along a winding path from the Babbacombe downs or by boat, enjoying private mooring and a water shuttle to the shore.
Created by Lana de Savary, wife of Peter who has created luxury residences around the globe, The Cary Arms is a chic and relaxing experience.
For reservations call 01803 327110.

Bianco’s Ristorante Italiano
Robert Kearns, Torquay
I’ve lived in Torquay for a while, but had never been to Bianco’s before. I have to say, the food and service was excellent. We were a party of four and all ordered different dishes and starters. The food arrived in good time and the wine selection was also pretty good. Excellent value over all and left feeling very satisfied. Highly recommended!

Angels
Liz Marcombe, Wellswood
We went along for breakfast on Sunday morning and weren’t disappointed. Lovely selection of jams and marmalades, plus really liked that you can choose exactly what you want on the breakfast. Polite and efficient service and lovely surroundings.

Cary Arms
Tracy Taylor, Boston, USA
Came to visit some friends in St Marychurch and they took me along to the Cary Arms. Really great pub and the terrace is beautiful. I had the Steak and Ale pie, which I thought was really good. I had a pint of local ale with it, so plenty of ale all in all. Great place.
